An "I am" Poem

I wrote this poem for my seminar class for TEP:

I Am From…

By Sarah Wang

I am from notes,

treble and bass clef.

I am from tap shoes

with a broken sole.

I am healed

from a broken soul,

and a broken heart.

I am from punishment for

every wrong answer.

I am from “just do your best”

when my best just isn’t enough.

I am from a place of

opportunity, equality, and freedom (supposedly).

I am from sunny, blue skies

and white clouds,

no rain

or snow.

I am from traditions of red envelopes.

I am from Princes and Princesses

in a land far, far away,

with dragons.

But I am not from happily ever afters.
